BACKGROUND

Companies in the mobility sector bear significant responsibility; they are not only tasked with moving goods or people from point A to B, but also provide transport services and solutions that promote more sustainable transportation options, enhance mobility, and improve traffic efficiency. Potential customers include car rental companies, automobile manufacturers and dealers, as well as car-sharing providers. For these customers, cars are relocated, received, inspected, fueled, and cleaned.

At Munich Airport alone, several thousand vehicles are returned daily. To efficiently fulfill this task, the speed and robustness of the company’s systems are crucial.

The challenge

The biggest challenge in the day-to-day operations of a mobility service provider is speed. Affected companies must respond to peak times and unforeseen events, requiring efficient processes and high IT performance.

Additionally, not all deployment locations have access to Wi-Fi. Therefore, the vehicle coordination system must not only be reliable and fast but also available offline. The situation becomes more complex due to the varying processes of different car rental companies. For example, each provider has its own damage classifications. For us, it was essential to accurately represent these differences in the software.

The solution

Our solution allows us to provide long-term support to companies in the mobility sector. The Spring Framework and the use of a relational database provided the ideal solution for the specific requirements in the industry. At the same time, the software was designed to be highly extensible, allowing us to quickly and easily add any missing features after the initial go-live.
