With over 750 employees, Paul Vahle GmbH & Co. KG looks back on over 100 years of company history and achieves a worldwide turnover of 120 million euros. The company produces individual energy and data transmission systems, including crane technology, intralogistics, port technology, automotive, people mover and amusement rides. VAHLE is known, among other things, for the development of the first copper conductor rail by Paul Vahle in 1912.
As a long-standing customer of Plan Software, VAHLE approached us to bring the project planning tool originally developed by us online. The greatest challenge was to make the tool user-friendly for customers, administrators and representatives despite its complexity, since the configuration covers the extensive product range of VAHLE. The user should be able to choose between expert project planning and standard design. The declared goal was to be able to offer a complete plant package (including material list) at the end of project planning, which requires complex calculations. The “VAHLE Customer Hub” to be newly created was planned as a holistic solution that combines SAP, online shop and configurator in a user-friendly way.
With the Customer Hub, we have created a comprehensive platform in close consultation with the customer that
clearly combines the desired functionalities. We connected the Customer Hub to SAP via web services in order
to integrate customer-specific prices, stock levels, delivery times and copper prices. Individual materials
and spare parts can now be found easily using extensive search functions, which significantly increases
efficiency. Representatives and clerks also benefit from the dynamically generated data sheet, which
contains all relevant information for the customer (calculations, user input, material list). Customers
themselves can also find their way around the customer portal of the Customer Hub. Here they have access to
the article search, configurators, system project planning, order history and project planning
we solved it.
