The tyre1 GmbH & Co. KG, based in Reutlingen, is a union of the four wholesalers R.TEC, Hanse Trading, Reifen und Räder and Reifen Krupp. More than 250 employees work at 6 locations in Germany. Every day, 25,000 parcels are dispatched from 4 warehouses with a total storage area of over 76,500 m². With a range of over 1 million tyres and 250,000 rims, tyre1 is one of the leading tyre wholesalers in Germany.
As a group of companies, tyre1 GmbH und Co KG wanted to appear as a unit externally. However, a unified line could not be identified until then, because each of the four individual wholesale brands (R.TEC, Hanse Trading, Reifen und Räder and Reifen Krupp) maintained their own online shops in their own design and with their own user guidance. This also meant four times the costs for operations and further development. Above all, however, it was not possible for the customers to search the entire product range because there was no common database.
Via the Enterprise Service Bus of tyre1 GmbH & Co. KG, we have developed a B2B online shop that can access
all of the company's stocks and customers. To ensure a smooth transition from the old system, the existing
customers were imported. They can create the access data for the new shop with a few clicks or - if
available - use the access data from the old shops. With the help of an external Scrum master and project
manager, the complex requirements regarding the interfaces of the online shop to the other systems of tyre1
GmbH & Co. KG were analyzed, conceptualized and finally implemented in the shop as simple and sustainable
functionalities. The agile development process of the project was based on a microservice architecture that
could be managed and scaled with the help of BOSH and Cloudfoundry.
In the end, four individual shops, with very different designs and handling, were transformed into one central shop with outstanding usability.
