Within the IT landscape, ERP processes were distributed across various systems and thus fragmented. The systems in use were either unable or inadequately able to automate data exchange with each other, leading to avoidable errors requiring manual corrections. Additionally, the use of standalone solutions increased the time spent on cross-departmental work.
Since the system had dynamically grown over 10 years, it was necessary at the start of the project to evaluate the future relevance of already integrated workflows and to what extent newly created processes would be supported by the existing solution. Therefore, various workflows were initially checked for their current relevance and representability. And, of course, the planned ERP system transition and its added value had to be communicated to the affected employees.
With the go-live of our solution, all EDI connections to platforms or customer systems, historical transaction data, and new workflows were successfully transitioned within just one year without impacting the daily operations of the customer.
This was possible through strategic advance planning and a coherent orchestration of project steps: Together with DIEWE WHEELS, the workflows of the continuously growing system were compared with the standard processes of Business Central and optimized for more efficient operations. To accurately reflect user needs, the project team was in close communication with DIEWE WHEELS employees.
With the use of Business Central, previously separate accounting systems are now represented in one solution. This not only captures accounting processes but also materials management, significantly relieving employees. A paperless warehouse system replaces previous standalone solutions, facilitating inventory management for warehouse staff by depicting an accurate stock level. In this project, we have merged several independent process worlds into Business Central. N4CONNECT, our solution for seamless data integration, prevents media discontinuities. The data from the new ERP system is used in the new webshop and in the webshops of other dealers.
