The delicious lunch prepared in the in-house cafeteria in Saarbrücken-Scheidt will now make its way to the city center at sister company Plan Software through sustainable means.
For the daily approximately 15 km route, the new Citroën ë-SpaceTourer, a compact, all-electric van, is now ready. This will significantly reduce the high emissions previously associated with the diesel vehicle, especially during short-distance trips, while also consuming only about one-third of the energy of a traditional combustion engine vehicle.
Previous attempts to use smaller electric vehicles for transporting meals failed due to the limited cargo space of the currently available models on the market. To avoid leasing a conventional SUV with a combustion engine for another two years, the management decided to opt for the electric van. Its size (and up to 6 seats) also makes it suitable for the upcoming frequent trips to exhibitions, contributing to environmental sustainability in this aspect as well.
The next step involves investing in a photovoltaic system on the roof of the N4 company building to further emphasize the commitment to sustainability.
As the momentum of electric mobility gradually picks up, the local power generation will eventually benefit the employees. They will soon be able to recharge their private vehicles and bicycles with clean energy while at work in the company parking lot.
